I have worked on hundreds of guardianship review cases, and too many have revealed deeply troubling realities. Time and again, I witnessed wards—some of society's most vulnerable individuals—being neglected, ignored, or outright mistreated by those entrusted with their care.
These horrific experiences—among many others—fundamentally changed how I practiced law. They also confirmed my calling to serve as a judge, and specifically as a probate judge. I have learned that probate law is not simply about estates, trusts, or procedural filings. At its core, probate law is about protecting human dignity, safeguarding autonomy, and ensuring justice at some of life's most vulnerable and consequential moments.
Sheila would ensure that every family receives respect and dignity because every case matters regardless of the economic spectrum.
Sheila would ensure courtrooms are places of clarity, not intimidation—where self-represented litigants receive patient guidance and where orders are written in language families can actually understand.
Sheila would bring the right temperament, empathy, and patience for probate judges often resolve disputes where there is no clear villain—just grief, fear, and competing versions of what a loved one would have wanted.
